Chapter 6

I had not been in a committed relationship in years. I was only 25 but had been with plenty of different women and it was always just about sex. Vivian had me feeling like my first love made me feel. I had been fucking with Vivian for six months but my return yesterday was special.

I guess it's true what they say about absence making the heart grow fonder. It was obvious that Vivian had missed me and although I didn't want to admit it out loud, I had missed her to. She was much different than any other woman I had ever dated.

When I woke up Monday morning, Vivian was gone. She had left a note on the nightstand that said, "I hope you still respect me after what I did to you yesterday. Call me later if you like. I love you! And thank you for my gifts."

Vivian's note was just as surprising as the blessings she gave me yesterday. I had been dating her for almost 6 months and she had never given my soldier so much attention before. It was the one thing that was missing in our relationship. She was definitely somebody I could see myself settling with.

After reading her note, I went to get my bags to unpack but Vivian had already unpacked my things for me. All my clothes were hung up in the closets and my toiletries were in their proper places.

I was scratching my head at how comfortable she was with going through my bags. It was the final sign that we had crossed a line in our relationship. It bothered me a little bit but after the warm welcome home, I brushed it off before jumping in the shower.

Vivian was on my mind all morning and it was obvious from her note how she was feeling. I knew she had feelings for me for some time now but she never uttered the words "I love you" before. It was something that we just never said to one another since we had been dating.

I really didn't know what to think at this point because I got used to being single and fucking with who I want, when I want. Not committing gave me the opportunity to maintain some privacy. Good thing there was nothing in my bag that would have hurt her feelings. Vivian's curiosity was always on display whenever my cell phone rang in her presence. The look on her face had me convinced that she wanted to know who it was.

We spent the last few months reminding one another that we were just friends whenever we were getting too close. Answering any questions that I felt was part of an interrogation turned me off. She allowed me to volunteer things about myself and who called me. Even though we were only friends with benefits I always kept my cell phone locked.

I know Vivian wanted to be in a committed relationship because she always told me where she was and what she was doing.
